The Guidance and Psychological Counseling Division of the Department of Educational Sciences at Ondokuz Mayıs University continues to play a leading role in large-scale initiatives within the scope of its social contribution mission and strategic partnerships with public institutions. Faculty members from our division provided scientific leadership at a regionally significant workshop organized under the auspices of the Samsun Governorship.
In cooperation with the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality and the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, the Samsun Governorship organized the “Workshop on the Roma Strategy Document and Samsun Provincial Action Plan” to support the development of macro-level policies for disadvantaged groups.
This important workshop, which brought together a wide range of institutional stakeholders and served as a strategic roadmap for the region, featured substantial contributions from the academic staff of our program. In order to establish the methodological framework of the process and ensure the successful development of the action plan, Prof. Dr. Hatice Kumcağız, a faculty member of our division, served as the General Moderator, while Assist. Prof. Dr. Nurdan Doğru Çabuker served as a Moderator. Through these roles, they provided direct academic leadership and contributed to the preparation of the provincial action plan.
Responsiveness to Social Needs and Contribution to Public Policy
This high-level collaboration clearly demonstrates that our program extends beyond its educational and research functions by actively contributing to social welfare, supporting the rights and well-being of disadvantaged groups, and providing a scientific foundation for public policy development. The workshop also highlighted the program’s commitment to addressing societal needs through evidence-based approaches and strengthening cooperation between academia and public institutions for the benefit of the community.
