The project titled "Developing Supervision Competencies of School Psychological Counselors in Turkey: Design and Investigation of the Effectiveness of a Training Program," coordinated by Samsun University faculty member Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kemal Yöntem and supported within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 1001-ARDEB program, continues to support professional development in the field.
As the Guidance and Psychological Counseling (GPC) Division of the Department of Educational Sciences at Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU), we aimed for our school psychological counselors to benefit to the highest degree from this valuable project, initiating close communication and collaboration with Samsun University. In line with this shared vision, an informational meeting regarding the project was organized for the school psychological counselors collaborating within the scope of the Fall semester "GPC Practices in Schools I" course. During the meeting, the scope and learning outcomes of the "Practice Supervisor Training Program"—designed to scientifically enhance the supervision skills of school guidance counselors—were shared.
As a result of this meaningful initiative and meeting, it was stated that school psychological counselors serving in our schools will show voluntary and high interest in participating in this project, which will greatly contribute to professional competency in the field. This collaboration, which elevates professional solidarity and academic synergy between our university and the field to the highest level, constitutes a significant milestone in the training of future psychological counselors.
